# About this site

*One narrow subject, covered properly: how to take a screenshot on a laptop, on every system and keyboard layout in common use.*

URL: https://screenshot-laptop.com/about/

## Why a whole site about this

Because the existing answers are bad in a specific way. Search for how to screenshot on a laptop and you get pages that open with three paragraphs about how useful screenshots are, then give you a Windows shortcut that doesn't work on your keyboard, then stop.

The actual problem is usually narrower and more annoying: your Print Screen key is on the Fn layer, or the capture went to your clipboard rather than a folder, or an overlay app took the key. Those are the pages worth writing.

## How pages here are structured

**The key combination is the first thing on the page.** Every page opens with the answer in a box, before any explanation. If that's all you needed, you can leave — that's a successful visit.

**Explanation comes after, for the people who need it.** Why the key doesn't respond, what the Fn layer is, where the file went.

**Nothing is padded to hit a word count.** Some pages here are short because the answer is short.

## What we don't do

- No affiliate links dressed up as recommendations. Where a paid tool is genuinely better for a specific job, that's said plainly, along with who shouldn't buy it.
- No AI-generated screenshots. Every image is a real capture from real hardware.
- No "5 amazing methods" where three of them are the same method.

## Corrections

Keyboard layouts change, vendors rename their settings, and operating systems ship updates that alter default behaviour. If something here is wrong or out of date on your machine, [tell us](https://screenshot-laptop.com/contact/) — include the model and the OS version and it'll be checked and fixed.
