# Contact

*Corrections are welcome and get acted on. Three details make them easy to act on.*

## Reporting something that doesn't work

Include:

1. **Your laptop's make and model** — the full model string, not just the brand.
2. **Your operating system and version** — Windows 11 24H2, macOS 15.3, ChromeOS 131, and so on.
3. **What happened**, versus what the page said would happen.

That's usually enough to reproduce the problem and fix the page.

**Where to find your version:**

- **Windows** — press `Win`+`R`, type `winver`, press `Enter`.
- **Mac** — Apple menu › About This Mac.
- **Chromebook** — Settings › About ChromeOS.

## Finding your model number

The full model string is the single most useful thing you can send, and it is
rarely printed anywhere obvious. Brand names like "HP Pavilion" cover hundreds
of different keyboards.

**Windows.** Press `Win`+`R`, type `msinfo32`, press `Enter`. The System
Model line is what we need. Alternatively open Terminal and run
`wmic csproduct get name`, or on newer builds
`Get-CimInstance Win32_ComputerSystem | Select Model`.

**Mac.** Apple menu › About This Mac. The model name and year appear at the top;
clicking More Info reveals the identifier, such as `Mac14,7`.

**Chromebook.** Type `chrome://system` in the address bar and look for the
`hwid` line. Or check Settings › About ChromeOS › Additional details.

Failing all of that, the model is usually printed on a label on the underside of
the laptop, or under the battery on older machines.

## Suggesting a page

Tell us what you searched for and what you didn't find. Search phrasing is genuinely useful information — it shows how the problem is actually described by the people having it, which is often not how a manual describes it.

## What we can't help with

- **Individual technical support.** We can't diagnose one machine remotely. Your manufacturer's support channel is better placed for that.
- **Legal questions** about recording or sharing captures. Varies by jurisdiction and needs someone qualified.
- **Recovering a lost capture** beyond what's on [where screenshots save](https://screenshot-laptop.com/fix/where-are-screenshots-saved/).

## Getting in touch

**[contact@screenshot-laptop.com](mailto:contact@screenshot-laptop.com)**

One person reads this address. Expect a reply within a few days on a
correction, longer on anything that needs testing on hardware we do not have.

Please do not send:

- Attachments over 10MB. Link to a file instead.
- Marketing, link-building or guest-post proposals. These are declined as a
matter of policy and are not replied to. See the
[disclosure statement](https://screenshot-laptop.com/disclosure/) for why.
- Requests to remove a factual statement about a product without saying which
statement is wrong and what the correct version is.
