Every page leads with the key combination before any explanation. Three facts that answer most questions about this subject: - Screenshots are handled by the operating system, not the laptop maker. An HP and a Dell running the same Windows version capture identically; what differs is the keyboard layout and whether the key sits behind `Fn`. - On Windows, only `Win`+`PrtSc` saves a file automatically. `PrtSc`, `Alt`+`PrtSc` and `Win`+`Shift`+`S` are clipboard-only by design, which is why the Screenshots folder is often empty. - macOS is the reverse: captures save to disk by default, and adding `Ctrl` sends them to the clipboard instead.
