# Privacy policy

*This site collects very little. No accounts, no tracking cookies, and nothing you screenshot ever leaves your own computer.*

URL: https://screenshot-laptop.com/privacy/

Effective 12 September 2026. This policy covers **screenshot-laptop.com**. Where this page says “we” it means the operator of this site, reachable at [contact@screenshot-laptop.com](mailto:contact@screenshot-laptop.com).

## The short version

- No account, no login, nothing to sign up for.
- No advertising cookies and no cross-site tracking.
- Aggregate visit statistics only, with no profile built about you.
- Screenshots you take on your own device are never uploaded, seen, or processed by this site.

## What we collect

### Visit statistics

We use **Plausible Analytics** to understand which pages are useful and which searches bring people here. It records, in aggregate:

- The page visited, and the page or search engine that referred you
- Approximate country or region, derived from your IP address
- Device type, screen size, browser and operating system
- The time of the visit and how long the page was open

We do not receive your full IP address in a stored form, we do not set a tracking cookie for this, and we cannot identify you from it. There is no way for us to follow you across other websites, and we do not attempt to.

Device and operating system data matters more here than on most sites: it tells us whether people arriving on the Windows pages are actually on Windows, which is how we decide what to write next.

### Messages you send us

If you email us or use a contact form, we hold your message, your email address, and anything else you choose to include. We use it to reply and to fix errors you report. We keep correspondence for up to **24 months** and then delete it, unless there is an ongoing matter.

### Server logs

Our host, our hosting provider, keeps standard access logs containing IP addresses, timestamps and requested URLs. These exist for security and abuse prevention, are kept for a short period by the host, and are not used by us for analytics or marketing.

## What we never collect

- Your screenshots, images or files. This site has no upload feature.
- Passwords, payment details or identity documents.
- Location beyond an approximate region.
- Anything from a logged-in account, because there are no accounts.

## Cookies

**This site sets no cookies at all**, and uses no localStorage or sessionStorage. There is nothing to consent to, which is why you see no cookie banner. That is not an oversight — under the ePrivacy Directive and UK PECR, consent is required for non-essential cookies, and the simplest way to comply is not to set any.

|Cookie|Purpose|Set by|Duration|
|---|---|---|---|
|None|—|—|—|

If that ever changes — a comment system, a preference toggle, advertising — this table will be updated before the cookie is set, and a consent banner will appear wherever one is legally required.

## Third parties that receive data

We keep this list short deliberately. Currently:

- **our hosting provider** — serves the pages, and therefore sees your IP address as part of delivering them.
- **Plausible Analytics** — receives the aggregate visit data described above.
> **No other third parties receive anything.** Typefaces, icons, images and stylesheets are all served from this domain. Your browser makes no request to Google, to a CDN, or to any advertising or social network while you read this site. We verified this by loading the site in a clean browser and recording every outbound request — there were none beyond this domain.

This matters more than it sounds. Loading fonts from Google's service, as most sites do, transmits every visitor's IP address to Google, and a German court has held that doing so without consent can breach the GDPR. Serving them ourselves removes the transfer rather than disclosing it.

We do not sell data, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.

## Affiliate links and advertising

Some pages mention third-party software. Where a link earns a commission, it is disclosed on the page and in our [disclosure statement](https://screenshot-laptop.com/disclosure/). Affiliate links may carry a tracking parameter that tells the vendor the visit came from here; the vendor's own privacy policy governs what happens after you click.

We do not currently display advertising. If that changes, this policy will be updated to name the network and explain how to opt out of personalised advertising before any ads appear.

## Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

- **Access** the personal data we hold about you
- **Correct** anything inaccurate
- **Delete** it
- **Object to** or **restrict** our processing of it
- **Receive a copy** in a portable format
- **Withdraw consent** where processing relies on it
- **Opt out of sale or sharing** of personal information — we do neither, so there is nothing to opt out of

In practice, the only personal data we are likely to hold about you is an email you sent us. To exercise any right, write to **[contact@screenshot-laptop.com](mailto:contact@screenshot-laptop.com)**. We respond within 30 days.

If you are in the UK or EU, our lawful basis is legitimate interest for aggregate statistics, and consent or contract performance for correspondence you initiate. You may complain to your national data protection authority — in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office.

## Children

This site is a general-audience technical reference and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

## Do Not Track

We honour it by default, in the sense that we do not track you either way.

## Changes to this policy

Material changes will be noted at the top of this page, not made quietly. The effective date above always reflects the current version.

## Contact

**screenshot-laptop.com** — [contact@screenshot-laptop.com](mailto:contact@screenshot-laptop.com)

Email is the only contact channel. We do not operate a telephone line, and there
is no postal correspondence address.

## Questions

**Can this site see my screenshots?**

No, and it has no technical means to. Screenshots are created by your operating system and stored on your own device. This site is static pages of text — there is no upload function, no script that reads your clipboard, and no server that could receive an image.

**Do you use Google Analytics?**

No. We use Plausible Analytics, which sets no tracking cookies and builds no cross-site profile. If that ever changes, this policy will be updated before the change takes effect, and a consent banner will appear wherever one is legally required.

**How do I ask you to delete my data?**

Email contact@screenshot-laptop.com. Since the only thing we are likely to hold is a message you sent us, deletion is usually immediate and straightforward.
