How this site is funded, and what that does and does not buy anyone.

Last reviewed 12 September 2026. Required by the FTC's endorsement guidelines, and worth stating clearly regardless.

Some pages link to third-party software. Some of those links may earn a commission if you buy after clicking, at no extra cost to you — the vendor pays it out of their margin, and the price you pay is the same either way.

Where a page contains affiliate links, it says so on the page itself, near the links rather than buried at the bottom.

What commission does not buy#

This is the part that matters:

The tools overview opens by telling you that most people do not need any screenshot tool. A site optimising for commission would not lead with that.

Advertising#

We do not currently display advertising.

If that changes, this page will name the network before any ads appear, and the privacy policy will be updated to explain what data the network collects and how to opt out of personalised advertising.

Things we don't do#

How assessments are actually made#

Tools are judged on whether they solve a problem the built-in tools cannot, as described in how we test. The starting assumption on every tools page is that you need nothing, and a tool has to earn its place by closing a specific gap — scrolling capture, automatic upload, consistent file naming, repeatable region capture.

We avoid quoting prices, because they change and a stale figure is worse than none. You are pointed at the vendor's own site for current pricing.

Third-party trademarks#

Naming a product does not imply a relationship with its maker. This site is independent and not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any company named on it, whether or not a commercial link exists.

That is completely fine, and it costs us nothing worth mentioning. Search for the tool by name, or type the vendor's address directly. The recommendation is the same either way — which is the entire point of disclosing this.

Questions#

If anything about how this site is funded is unclear, ask at contact@screenshot-laptop.com and we will answer directly.

Questions people actually ask

Does using an affiliate link cost me more?

No. The price is identical; the commission comes out of the vendor's margin. If you would rather not use one, navigating to the vendor directly is completely fine.

How do I know a recommendation isn't just the highest-paying one?

The clearest evidence is what the site recommends against. Multiple pages steer readers to free tools and to the operating system's own built-in features, neither of which pays anything. The tools overview opens by saying most people need no tool at all.

Do you accept guest posts or paid links?

No. We decline these requests as a matter of policy — selling links would mislead readers and also breach Google's spam policies.
